Premium Aircraft Cabin Sound Systems
Alto Aviation was founded in 1997 and designs and manufactures premium cabin audio systems for corporate aviation fixed wing and rotary wing assets as well as 135 & 121 operators. A complete line of products including audio amplifiers, entertainment loudspeakers, subwoofers, and page/chime speakers and nVELOP™ cabin wide surround sound are available to provide custom audio system solutions for any aircraft cabin.

In the spring of 1992, the principals of Alto Aviation designed the Bose Cabin Entertainment System which was the first branded high end audio system custom designed specifically for an aircraft cabin at the request of Gulfstream Aerospace Corporation. In the fall of 1997 Alto Aviation entered into an agreement with Bose Corporation, taking responsibility for all technical issues of existing Bose aviation cabin audio products as well as the design of new components and systems for aircraft. Alto Aviation also handled all manufacturing and testing of assemblies, shipping, customer interface, and technical support of the Bose Aircraft Entertainment Systems group.

At the beginning of 2000, Bose decided to exit the aircraft entertainment systems business. As part of their announcement, Bose officially endorsed Alto Aviation as the preferred audio system supplier to the industry. Alto is fully committed to positioning itself as the premium audio system supplier for aircraft cabin entertainment.

Alto Aviation cabin audio systems provide audio performance that is unrivaled in the industry. In addition to having the smallest and lightest speakers and subwoofers, we currently have the smallest and lightest audio amplifiers on the market, all of which are DO-160 tested.

Corporate Summary
The primary business of Alto Aviation is the design and manufacture of premium audio systems for business aviation. Alto Aviation currently maintains two locations. Engineering, quality control, marketing, sales and all product manufacturing related to business aviation are based at Alto’s headquarters in Leominster, Massachusetts. The Jupiter, Florida office provides engineering, product support, and product field-testing

Aircraft Audio System Design
With the introduction of the DVD, as well as the advancements made in surround sound and the quality of home theaters, more focus has been put on audio as being an integral part of the overall experience of movies. In addition to advancements to CD formats and quality, the media options available in the aircraft cabin are ever increasing. In flight satellite television can now bring the excitement of live sports right into the aircraft. Business jet owners are some of the world’s most demanding customers and not only desire, but expect their aircraft to meet the high audio standards they are accustomed to at home and in their car to get the same emotional impact they experience at concerts, movie theatres, Broadway shows, or sporting events.

Aircraft audio systems require special consideration for such factors as size, weight, and the difficult acoustics of the cabin interior. Custom designed speakers and electronics are needed to overcome the negative effects of these factors. All parts of the system must be optimized with the entire system in mind and not just designed as individual components. Alto Aviation has developed sophisticated proprietary design software for just that purpose.

The software has allowed us to acoustically map the interior of an aircraft and create a model in our computer database. The audio system is also modeled and the interaction between all of the components and the aircraft itself can be predicted. This allows us to chose the optimum speaker as well as speaker location and model specialized electronic hardware in the computer without having to build them.

Customer Base
Gulfstream: Since early 2000, our amplifiers, page and chime speakers, and cockpit communication speakers have been installed as standard equipment on all Gulfstream models from the G100 through the G550.

Sikorsky: Our audio system is now used for executive versions of the S-92 and S-76.
Embraer: Our audio system in now the baseline system for all Embraer Legacy 600 aircraft.

We are currently working under NDA with other major OEM’s on integration of Alto Aviation audio and surround sound systems as standard equipment across many aircraft platforms.

Alto is partnered with Honeywell and provides the cabin audio portion of their newest cabin management system, Ovation Select.

In addition to selling to OEM production facilities, we have sold to and are the system of choice for many of the major MRO facilities throughout the world.

Our systems have been installed on many aircraft platforms ranging from King Air C90 to Boeing Business Jets.
